The AgentSky Mac app runs Claude Code and Codex on your own Mac for free, on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, and keeps every chat in your workspace so your team can read it and continue it. When your Mac can't keep a chat going, the cloud picks it up.
How it works
- Agents on this Mac. In a new chat, pick Claude Code or Codex under Run on this Mac. The agent runs on your computer, pays with the plan you already have, and can choose a model and thinking level. Cloud agents are one menu away under Run in the cloud, and when your account has no credit left a new chat starts on this Mac instead. See Run agents locally on your Mac.
- One workspace. Chats from the app, and from Claude Code or Codex in a terminal if you turn that on, sync to your workspace as they happen, at no cost. Teammates read them on the web, and a message you send from the web or your phone runs on your Mac while it is on. See Sync local Mac chats to your workspace.
- The cloud when needed. If your Mac goes to sleep, the battery nears 10%, disk or memory run critical, or your plan hits its limit, an unfinished chat moves to the cloud and keeps going on AgentSky credits. It continues with the same agent and the model it was actually using, even if the chat was left on the default model. If that model can't be confirmed, or the conversation is too large to continue with the same agent, nothing moves and the chat keeps running on this Mac. One notification says so, with a Stop button. Turn this off in Settings › This Mac. If a move to the cloud fails, the chat shows the error with a Continue in the cloud link: fix what the error names, such as choosing a model, then click it to try the move again. If the move is refused for lack of credits, the out-of-credits notice appears instead (I'm out of credits). See Continue a Mac chat in the cloud.
- What agents can use here, with your approval. A folder on this Mac, a browser window with your logins, a tab in your own Chrome, your screen and apps (computer use), and Mail, Notes, Calendar, Reminders and Contacts. Each app is asked about on first use; passwords, keychains and System Settings are never used. See Give an agent access to a folder on your Mac, Browser logins on the Mac app, Let an agent act in your own Chrome tab and Mac app permissions.
- Also on this Mac. Call notes from Zoom, Meet and other calls (Call notes on your Mac), dictation in the composer (Dictation settings on Mac), and Quick Ask: ⌥Space from any app, or the menu bar item, opens a small field whose text starts a new chat.
Getting started
- Download it from agentsky.dev/mac for Apple silicon or Intel, open the disk image and drag AgentSky to Applications. See Download and install AgentSky Mac.
- Sign in with the account you use on agentsky.dev; the app opens your browser once to authorize it. See Sign in on Mac.
- On a new account the app adds the agents it finds on your Mac, with their instructions, skills and tools. See Agents set up automatically on first run (Mac).
Nothing is asked for on first run. macOS prompts appear only when a feature needs one: Screen Recording and Accessibility for computer use, the microphone for dictation and call notes, Full Disk Access only for the WeChat reader. See Allow AgentSky the permissions it needs.
Limits
- Local agents need Claude Code or Codex installed and signed in on this Mac; without one, chats run in the cloud.
- A local agent's shell commands run without an approval step, so give it tasks you are happy for it to carry out on your Mac.
- The app signs in to your AgentSky account and needs an internet connection to sync and to reach the cloud. Only on this Mac in Settings keeps a chat from ever leaving your Mac.
Good to know: the app updates itself and installs the update when you quit it (Update the Mac app). Related: What is AgentSky?, Keyboard shortcuts in the Mac app, Use your Claude or ChatGPT plan.
